On December 6, the U.S. Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy, in cooperation with the Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Industry (AIFP), hosted an event highlighting the value of innovation in healthcare, the need for close collaboration among key healthcare stakeholders, and the unique role of empowered patient organizations. The AIFP Academy of Patient Organizations opened a number of new themes this year, which were echoed throughout the event, touching on the issues of patient access to information on therapies and current regulation on advertising, the EUPATI project enabling individual patient education, and the issue of funding for patient organizations.
“Early access and information about innovative therapies is crucial for patients. Patient organizations play a key role in the healthcare system and collaboration among all healthcare stakeholders is essential to improve outcomes. Thank you AIFP and APO for creating such an environment!” AMB Bijan Sabet
