U.S. Embassy Celebrates International Roma Day

Prague, April 7 – On the occasion of International Roma Day on April 8, U.S. Ambassador to the Czech Republic Andrew Schapiro joined three fellows participating in the Embassy-sponsored Roma Fellowship program, AraArt International Roma Day Events Coordinator David Tiser, and Slovo 21 Roma Fellowship Coordinator Denisa Horvathova in a video reaffirming our commitment to the inclusion and equal treatment of all Roma people, wherever they call home.

International Roma Day is an opportunity to show respect for the Romani culture and heritage; however, it is also a day to remember that Roma, a group of people that are often relegated to the fringes of society, still face discrimination.

“Today, the Unites States Embassy in Prague celebrates the rich Romani culture and the diverse contributions of Roma people throughout the world. We send our best wishes to all Roma people on the occasion of International Roma Day. Happy International Roma Day! Bachtalo Romano D’ives!” said Ambassador Schapiro.
