Ambassador Stephen King and Prime Minister Andrej Babis agreed today on assistance from the U.S. military to the Czech people through its National Guard state partnership program to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. “This afternoon I spoke with the Prime Minister about the Czech Republic’s fight against COVID-19. We agreed on a visit of U.S. military medical personnel from the Nebraska and Texas National Guard to assist in this effort,” said Ambassador Stephen King. “These military medical professionals have experience responding to coronavirus in the United States.”
Representatives of the Czech and U.S. military continue to discuss the details of the program, added Embassy Spokesperson Griffin Rozell. “The current proposal consists of a team of twenty-eight military doctors and medical workers. We continue to negotiate the details with our partners within the Czech ministry of defense and with other responsible Czech officials.”
