U.S. strategic bombers B-1 Lancer and B-52 Stratofortress belonged among the top attractions at this year’s NATO Days at the Ostrava International Airport this past weekend.
U.S. Ambassador Andrew Schapiro, who visited the air show together with U.S. Embassy Defense Attaché Mark Wootan on Saturday, greeted crews of the bombers and several other aircraft that were on public display.
The Ambassador also discussed security and defense cooperation with Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. Despite rainy weather, about 130,000 people attended the air show this year. The organizers said the show had the widest offer of events and military equipment from 21 countries this year. The NATO Days were first organized 16 years ago.
