For the fourth year in a row, the U.S. Embassy in Prague is a supporter of Prague Pride, which will take place the week of August 11-17. The theme of this year’s Pride is “East Meets West.” The goal is to give people from countries less open to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community the opportunity to see and experience a society that is more accepting.
There are over 100 events planned as part of Pride week, and Embassy Prague is pleased to participate in several. We will again light up the Glorietta in rainbow colors, and are very excited to announce that this year the lighting will be a part of the official opening ceremony on the evening of the 11th. The American Center will show the films Milk (August 12th) and Rent (August 19th), both at 6pm. We will also host a roundtable to discuss the experiences of LGBT diplomats here and around the world on Friday, August 15th, at 3pm in the American Center and participate in the Prague Pride Parade on Saturday, August 16th, starting at noon.
Media outlets interested in the Glorietta event or the American Center discussion should register at praguepress@state.gov.
