The U.S. Embassy Prague Marines donated gifts in Toys for Tots program

On December 21st Marines from the U.S. Embassy in Prague Detachment donated a gift of Toys for Tots at the Safehouse of St. Joseph for mothers/fathers in need with children in Lochovice near Beroun in the Central Bohemian Region. Thirty-three children altogether will enjoy their new toys at Christmas – both kids at the safehouse and in families in the Beroun area which are in need.

The U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots program began in 1947 when a Reserve unit in Los Angeles collected 5,000 toys to give to less fortunate children in their local community. Since then, the program has distributed around 470 million toys, all around the world.

As every year of her husband’s office, the First Lady Michelle Obama joined the Toys for Tots program volunteering at the sorting of Toys for Tots at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.
