U.S. Embassy Joins Prague Airport Roadshow

On November 11 – 19, 2019, the U.S. Embassy Prague U.S. Commercial Section joined the Prague Airport roadshow in six cities of the Czech Republic visiting Ostrava, Olomouc, Zlin, Brno, Plzen, and Prague. The roadshow celebrated its tenth anniversary and highlighted travelling from Václav Havel Airport Prague on direct flights to the United States. The presentations targeted Czech tour operators and travel agents which are in direct contact with passengers.  Prague Airport introduced new services, routes from Prague and development plans for the following years. All U.S. airlines operating their flight from Prague – American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines – shared information about their direct seasonal flights from Prague Airport to New York (JFK and Newark), Philadelphia, and also a new route to Chicago, launching in May 2020. U.S. Commercial Service highlighted the number of Czech tourists traveling to the United States as well as immigration, visa and ESTA updates and shared information on BrandUSA activities. The VisitUSA Committee Czech Republic focused on promoting travel to the United States and presented its activities and some helpful tips for U.S. travel.

Ambassador Stephen B. King gave remarks at the closure of the roadshow in Prague stating “in 2018, Czechs made almost 120,000 trips to the United States, a 4.4 percent increase from the previous year, and with new direct flights being added each year, we know that number will only increase. My home, the United States, offers a diverse tourist experience – you can enjoy sandy beaches, vibrant cities, stunning natural parks, and the rolling countryside.  American culture has much to offer in terms of innovative cuisine, live music venues for every taste, exciting and unique sporting events for every enthusiast, as well as conferences and trade fairs for every industry.”

„Prague Airport witnessed an increase in the number of handled passengers to all 15 long-haul destinations in 3Q of 2019. Especially, flights to North America saw the sharpest year-to-year increase in passenger numbers with a rise of 28,7% in the same period. We strive to increase the number of long-haul direct connections to North America where we see big potential. While  at the same time, we also discuss with airlines the extending operations of current seasonal routes to New York, Philadelphia, Toronto and Chicago to year-round service in the future,” Vaclav Rehor, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said.
