U.S. Diplomats Visit Center for Visually Impaired in České Budějovice

Alex Barrasso navštívil 17. února obecně prospěšnou společnost Tyflokabinet v Českých Budějovicích

On February 17, political officer of the U.S. Embassy Alex Barrasso visited Tyflokabinet, a non-profit
organization for visually impaired in Ceske Budejovice. The organization provides social services
designed to improve lives of the visually impaired and increase their independence by special trainings,
selecting adequate equipment and helping clients to secure funding for the equipment.

The organization also provides free eye screening for children, thus, detecting eye problems at an early
age. Tyflokabinet director Jan Steringa and several of his colleagues showed Alex around their center
and demonstrated a variety of modern equipment and tools that help the visually impaired in their daily
lives.

They were very interested in learning about the Americans with Disabilities Act, and especially its
provisions on work opportunities since unemployment is one of the main issues in the Czech
community of visually impaired
