U.S. Commercial Service Supports Pet Nutrition Seminar with Rob Downey, President of Annamaet Petfoods

Rob Downey, President of U.S. company Annamaet Petfoods and author of numerous articles on improving the nutritional health and well-being of dog and cat companions, was the featured speaker at the Samohyl seminar on Pet Nutrition on May 13 in Prague.

In his presentation, Mr. Downey presented information on the latest trends in pet food and canine nutrition. He pointed out that 75 % of dog owners and 50 % of cat owners in the U.S. now consider their pets to be an essential part of the family, like children. Owners are much more concerned with the quality of ingredients used in their pet’s food.

The seminar was organized by Czech company Samohyl in cooperation with Annamaet Petfoods. Ing. Petr Samohyl, Chairman and CEO of Samohyl/Zverokruh introduced Mr. Downey and spoke briefly about pets in the Czech Republic. U.S. Embassy Commercial Counselor Helen Peterson welcomed Mr. Downey and highlighted the fact that the U.S. is known for being a leader in quality and innovative pet products.

Mr. Downey is a regular contributor to the Journal of American Animal Hospital Association and the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine on pet health and nutrition issues.
