The following list of attorneys practicing in the Czech Republic is provided as a service to American citizens seeking legal advice. The Embassy is not permitted to provide legal advice nor to recommend specific attorneys. However, the attorneys listed below are of good repute, and have either handled cases for Americans satisfactorily or been recommended to us by well-placed sources. As in the U. S., fees in the Czech Republic vary according to the experience and qualifications of the attorney. We advise any American to discuss the fees with a prospective attorney in advance, and to determine the best method of communication with the attorney (either in person, by phone, or fax/e-mail) given language and/or time zone problems.
A complete list of lawyers is available at the webpage of the Czech Bar Association at www.cak.cz. Its English version allows for choice by language, location of lawyer’s office, law specialization and name.
American citizens should be aware that only attorneys admitted to the bar in the Czech Republic may practice here. Many U.S. law firms with offices in the Czech Republic therefore retain both Czech and American attorneys to better serve their clientele.
Note that the time difference from the east coast of the United States to all cities in the Czech Republic is six hours. When dialing from the U.S. the country code for the Czech Republic is +420.
