U.S.-Czech trade relations and cooperation in the areas of research, development, and innovation were the main topics discussed during Ambassador Stephen King´s third trip to Brno and the surrounding region on March 18 and 19.
On Monday, the Ambassador met Lord Mayor Marketa Vankova, discussed international relations with experts at Masaryk University, and took part in a presentation about successful start-ups at the South Moravian Innovation Center. On Tuesday morning, the Ambassador briefly left Brno to visit the village of Ladna, from where the Alba Metal Company exports auto parts to the world. The company has successfully opened a factory in the U.S. state of Georgia, and is an example of Czech investment in the USA.
Back in Brno, the Ambassador met the leadership of the International Clinical Research Center (ICRC) which is a joint project of Brno´s Saint Anna Faculty Hospital and the U.S.-based Mayo Clinic. At the end of his trip, King toured a facility of the ThermoFisher Company, the world´s largest supplier of laboratory equipment.
