A second friendly football game between FC Roma Jr from Decin and FC Embassies took place in Prague on Sunday, 20 September at Prague’s Podolí. This was a re-match of last year’s highly publicized game between the Decin football team and a team made up of diplomats and embassy personnel from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, USA and UK.
Last year, the idea to arrange a game was inspired by a Czech newspaper article about a football team in Decin who won matches by “walkover” as several teams in the league refused to play against them, evidently based on the fact that most of the players of FC Roma Jr Decin are Roma. The Embassy of Sweden, headed by Ambassador Annika Jagander, sent out a call for action to colleagues at other embassies in Prague and within just a few days there was enough players to form a team. This year the US Embassy was represented by Randy Deleon and Pepijn Helgers.
This time, FC Roma Jr Decin outplayed their opponents from FC Embassies and won 6:0.
