Embassy Supports Workshop for Young Czech Journalists

Acting Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Ray Castillo met with 20 Czech journalism students participating in a U.S. Embassy-sponsored “Tools and Tactics for Identifying Fake News and Propaganda” course.

Acting Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Ray Castillo met on February 13 with 20 Czech journalism students from all over the country, who are participating in a U.S. Embassy-sponsored “Tools and Tactics for Identifying Fake News and Propaganda” course organized by local Czech NGO Transitions.

As a follow-up to the successful Prague Tech Camp last year, Embassy Prague supported Transitions to design this skill-building workshop specifically for young Czech journalists, as well as aspiring print and online reporters. The project also includes a three month online course-component and a final workshop in Brno, the second largest city.

As part of the two-day training in Prague, participants are given a hands-on workshop using newly-acquired tools and resources as a means to identify disinformation, misinformation, and propaganda from any source.
