On Thursday, July 20, 2017, the American Center of the U.S. Embassy hosted an interesting discussion on human rights with a group of Czech and American High School students in their respective countries. Acting Public Affairs Counselor Erin Kotheimer welcomed the students and opened the discussion. Political Human Rights Officer Julianne Parker, Political Specialist Helena Markusová, and Roma Fellow Veronika Hlaváčová presented a review of some major human rights issues in the Czech Republic.
Students then engaged in a lively discussion with the panelists comparing the situation in human rights in the United States and the Czech Republic. Another topic of interest to the young audience was the role of American diplomats abroad and the way Czech employees are engaged in the U.S. mission.
