COVID-19 Information

Last updated:  August 13, 2020

Country-Specific Information:

  • Czech Republic has 19,075 confirmed cases (cumulative), 13,407 recoveries, 391 deaths, and 767,598 samples tested.
  • Most commercial establishments are open for business, subject to hygiene and social distancing requirements. Masks covering mouth and nose are no longer mandatory when outside or inside most buildings and business establishments, subject to guidelines on social distancing.  Although no longer mandatory in most situations, the wearing of face-masks is still highly recommended. Stricter measures (such as mandatory face coverings in all situations) are in force in specific areas of the Czech Republic. For specific information about the re-openings and all public health requirements in English, visit https://koronavirus.mzcr.cz/en/ (see links on the left, including https://koronavirus.mzcr.cz/en/roadmap-for-easing-measures/ and https://koronavirus.mzcr.cz/en/frequently-asked-questions/)
  • Generally, in the capital region, public events are allowed with up to 2,500 people if the premises are structurally divided into separate areas that do not permit co-mingling.  The Czech Republic has taken a more region-specific approach to public health protective measures, with stricter measures still in place in areas with recent spikes in cases.  For details in English, see Ministry of Health information at https://koronavirus.mzcr.cz/en/current-measures/.
