Members of the Czech Muslim community along with Czech NGO and government representatives attended an Iftar on June 19 hosted by Charge d’Affaires Kelly Adams-Smith in honor of Ramadan, a time which is sacred to more than a billion Muslims all around the world.
Guests discussed religious tolerance, the significance of Ramadan, and the need for inter-faith dialogue to overcome perceived differences and lead to mutual understanding.
Ramadan is designed to bring self-purification through self-restraint and good deeds. Acts of charity and compassion for those less fortunate – including sharing of a meal – are encouraged during Ramadan.
