Ambassador Sabet Visits the Procter & Gamble Rakona Manufacturing Plant

Ambassador Bijan Sabet visited the Procter & Gamble (P&G) Rakona manufacturing plant in Rakovník.  P&G was one of the first U.S. companies to invest in the Czech Republic in 1991.  The company is one of the largest employers in the Central Bohemia region.  P&G manufacturers laundry and dishwashing detergents and fabric softeners at the Rakovník facility.  More than 90 percent of production is exported, making P&G one of the largest exporters in the country.

During the visit, Ambassador Sabet witnessed the signing of the EmpowerHer pledge by P&G executives in front of 40 company employees.  EmpowerHer is an initiative of the U.S. Department of Commerce and AmCham EU to support and strengthen efforts to ensure gender equality and empower women in international trade.  By joining this initiative, P&G Rakona underlines the company’s long-term activities in the field of diversity and inclusion.

After a tour of the factory, Ambassador Sabet had an interactive discussion with the company’s employees, during which he expressed appreciation for the company’s focus on automation and digitalization in its production process.  He also welcomed the company’s drive toward sustainability and care for its employees.  During his visit to Rakovník, the Ambassador met with Mayor Luděk Štíbr and Senator Ivo Trešl.  The visit concluded with a visit to the T.G. Masaryk Museum.
